since the announcement of KOR
airing in HD and 12 years since AnimEigo dropped the license for KOR.
That all changes today! Discotek
Media has officially re-licensed Kimagure Orange Road (TV series
/OVA/Movie 1) Expect a release later […]

Still on my "to watch" list since I never managed to get the original box
set and LivEvil has only done about a dozen episodes. I think it's more for
bragging rights than anything else now. :D

I watched the whole TV show on rentals from the local video shop
in Nihon Machi but then i went and bought the boxed set from AnimEgo.
I have never regretted that purchase nor the two movies. When I saw the
first volume I was not too enchanted but then I went back and rented
then bought the rest. I have watched it several times. I have read
the manga online and it is better but still the first movie made me
cry over Hikaru's stubbornness.

But there is no accounting for taste.

I have found that some shows do not stand the test of time well. For
example, I tried rewatching the english dub of Tenchi Universe (the TV
series not the OAV) and it was painful at times. Disappointing for me as
this was one of the first series that I purchased (on VHS :P) and I had fond
memories of it. OTOH, the subs of KOR seem to hold up well. I think I was
about half way through the series when it was licensed by AnimEgo but chalk
it up to laziness for not getting DVDs. (^_^)' Maybe this time around.

Agreed. Some while ago I revisited parts of 'Kimagure Orange Road' and
was struck by the sexist behavior of some of the male characters, some
of it directed toward obviously under-age girls. At the time of original
publication this was no doubt considered 'normal' but these days after
the #Me Too protests many will find it rather less amusing.
